Choosing Your ATV Tires for Your Specific Needs Choosing Your ATV Tires for Your Specific Needs
By Barth Mauler
Any All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) owner needs to be conscious of the many kinds of ATV tires available for his or her purchase. Though most ATVs come with stock tires, a few different varieties of aftermarket versions are available that are suitable for different situations. Those made specifically for street use are not ideal for snow or mud riding. These tires are made for specific terrains and are made by a number of quality brands. Here are some facts on the many ATV tire variations which are offered:
General ATV Tires
Almost every all terrain vehicle comes factory installed with general purpose ATV tires. They are designed to be used in general, all around off roading, but if you lean towards one form of off roading primarily than a specialized tire like one for mud or snow would be your best bet.
Paddle Tires
If you're looking to use your ATV on the sand, then paddle tires are your best option. If you've never seen a paddle tire, just imagine very large balls with paddles. To be honest, they look more like paddles on old riverboats. Even though they're efficient in sand, they're not suggested for other kinds of riding.
Mud Tires
If you're planning on off-roading with your ATV in deep mud conditions, you'll want an ATV tire that is designed to handle it. ATV mud tires are made with large gaps and irregular tread spacing to guarantee a superior grip that rids itself of mud as you ride. In addition, the design of mud tires spins as much as possible to rid the mud from the tire.
Snow Tires
The most unique-looking tire of the bunch is probably the snow tire. Each snow tire features horizontal treads that wrap around the it - much like a snow chain. This design enables the tires to firmly grip the snow instead of helplessly spinning in it.
Trail Tires
Trail tires bear a striking resemblance to their mud counterparts. The only difference is that the treads are slightly shorter and may be closer together. These tires are also made of tougher rubber and are higher priced than most of their counterparts.
ATV Tire Brands
There are a number of quality ATV tire brands to choose from. These include Maxxis, Kenda, STI, Interco (Super Swamper), and GBC to name a few. All of these are good brands to there's no need to worry about making a bad choice. Choosing your tire brand from quality manufacturers just requires some time and planning. Pick the tire that fits your needs and budget.

Recycled Tire Mulch Manhattan KS

 Recycled Tire Mulch Manhattan KS

Over 300 millions used tires are created each year in the United States.
Without  a sustainable recycling program old tires began to add up quickly.
Each of us must do our part to recycle the tires we produce as well as
encourage others around us to do the same.

Worn out tires are considered to be one of the most difficult things
to recycle but technology is leading the way in finding new ways
to help deal with the problem.

Ground rubber is one such product where the tire is cut into small
pieces, the metal is removed and the end product is created. One
common use for the finished product is to spread the rubber product
across the playground area. It is a great product for
reducing injury, does not require as much filler material as
something such as wood chips might need and usually needs
to be applied just once.

There are many other ways to use recycled tires. By working together
individuals, companies and government can began to come up with
positive solutions to this  age old problem.

Creative Ways to Use Recycled Tires
Creative Ways to Use Recycled Tires
By Trey Dawson
With climate change and the current state of the economy, recycling is now more important than ever. Statistics show that each year, at least one new tire is created for every person in the United States, and over 281 million tires are tossed out on scrap heaps every year as well.
This is a shame, because tires are made of strong and durable material, and just because they are no longer fit to be used for your vehicle, it doesn't mean their days of usefulness are over. Finding ways to reuse your old scrap tires can greatly reduce the amount of waste you and your family produce each year and may also save you money. There are thousands of ways an old tire could be reused, but the following five ideas for recycling your tires should get you started off on the right path.
1. Planters
This is one of the most common uses for recycled tires. If you have a small vegetable plot or want to add some new flowerbeds to your landscaping, an old tire could be just what you need. Because the tire absorbs a lot of heat during the day, it makes an ideal environment for seedlings to grow. During the winter months, the tires can easily be covered to protect young plants from the cold.
2. Footwear
In the 60s, recycled tire sandals were hugely popular, and in many African countries, old tires are often used to create sandals or replace worn out shoe soles. A simple online search will help you find patterns to make your own pair of unique recycled tire sandals. It can be a fun activity to do in your spare time, and who knows? You might even start another trend.
3. Playground Equipment
Tires make the perfect base for many different items of playground equipment. You could save a lot of money on your yard's play area by recycling your tires and your kids will love their new outdoor area. If you have normal sized car tires you can make a classic tire swing, or use the tires as the padding under a seesaw. Larger truck or tractor tires can be made into sandboxes or playhouses.
4. Secure Your Trash Cans
During heavy storms, your outdoor trash cans may blow over if they aren't securely wedged in place. Save yourself the trouble of cleaning up the mess by simply using a heavy tire to keep your outdoor trash cans in place. This will also keep them out of the reach of pesky mice, rats and raccoons.
5. Furniture
You will have to be a bit creative to make this idea work, but there are some great items of furniture that can be made from recycled tires. Some people use them to make yard furniture, like stools and tables, as they are durable and can withstand harsh weather conditions. Some people have even made intricate household decorations from old car tires, including lamp shades, sculptures and side tables. Have a quick look online for furniture made from old tires; you will be amazed at how great it can look.
These are just a few examples of what you can do with used tires. With a bit of creativity and innovation, you can find many other ways to put your trusty old tires to good use.

Please be responsible and recycle your old tires. Never dump or burn them.
Respect the environment and leave the world a better place than you found it.
Working together we can do anything we set our minds to.
